the 16th Meeting of China-US Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade was held in the Great Hall of the People on July 11. Wu Yi, Vice Premier of the State Council co-chaired the meeting with Carlos Gutierrez, Secretary of US Commerce Department, Portman, US Trade Representative, and Mike Johanns, Secretary of US Department of Agriculture attended the meeting. Besides Minister Bo Xilai and Vice Minister Ma Xiuhong, officials from 19 Ministries and Commissions and direct institutes of China attended the meeting. The two sides exchanged views on enhancing China-US economic and trade cooperation, dealing with economic and trade problems deeply and sincerely, and reached some agreements and made important progress.
In the afternoon, Premier Wen Jiabao met with Carlos Gutierrez and the delegation.
In the evening, Vice Premier Wu Yi hosted a banquet in honor of US delegation in the Great Hall of the People, and members of Chinese delegation attended the banquet.
